Commenting on the inflation figures, which show CPI inflation at 1.0%, TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady yesterday said:  

"Despite rises for some items, the bigger picture remains low inflation with the economy still hit by the pandemic.

"The government must do everything it can to protect jobs. If a business has a clear case for job retention support beyond October, they must get it. It's senseless to let viable jobs go to the wall after supporting them this far."
