Inflation rise should not derail government action to secure recovery - TUC

Commenting on the inflation figures, which show CPI rising to 1.5% in April, TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady yesterday said:

“Working people need security, but millions are still furloughed, and many others have lost their job.

“Despite the rise, inflation is below target and we are a long way from giving workers security with a fast and full recovery. The government must continue with the interventions needed to achieve this.

“Much greater investment is still needed to regenerate the economy with green industry, and to level up with decent jobs across every part of the UK.”
