Investigation into death of man following arrest in Enfield is launched

An independent investigation has been launched by the IPCC into the actions of police officers during the arrest and detention of a man in Enfield who later died.

The man, aged 27, was arrested by Metropolitan Police officers at about 5.30pm on Sunday 9 April in Trent Park, Cockfosters Road, Enfield.

The man had been restrained by members of the public prior to the police officers’ arrival.

Following his arrest, police became concerned for his welfare. An ambulance was called to the scene and he was taken to hospital.

The man was later declared dead.

The incident was referred to the IPCC later that night, investigators attended the scene and post incident procedure, have gathered available CCTV and body worn video footage and are speaking to witnesses.
