Jail for Swansea man with "stomach churning" chat logs

A 32-year-old man has been jailed for 15 years after pleading guilty to sexually abusing two children under the age of 13.

Jason Piontecki, from Rhoddfa Eos, Swansea was convicted in March 2017 of making and possessing indecent images of children, after National Crime Agency officers identified that he was using online chat rooms and forums to stream live and recorded child sexual abuse.

Allegations of sexual abuse were later made against him and Piontecki was re-arrested by officers from the NCA’s CEOP Command on suspicion of sexually abusing two children.

He was interviewed and charged with assault of a child under 13, attempting to cause or incite a child under 13 to engage in a sexual activity  and engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child under 13, and pleaded guilty to nine offences on the 4th May 2017.

Sentencing Piontecki recently (26 May 2017) at Swansea Crown Court, HHJ Thomas said the chat logs he had in his possession “were stomach churning”. He added “your perversion was such you lost all restraint” and “you pose a substantial and continuing threat to children”.

Piontecki will be on the Sex Offender’s Register for life, and subject to a Serious Harm Prevention Order indefinitely.

Colin Radcliffe from the NCA’s CEOP Command said:

“Jason Piontecki led a seemingly normal life, however his sexual interest in children could not stay hidden and has ultimately led to his downfall.

“Viewing images of abuse is not a victimless crime. Not only have the children been abused to create the image, every time an image is viewed the victims re-live the abuse they suffered. Anyone who believes the internet is a safe haven to view such images should be under no illusion that we will identify them and bring them to justice”.
