Lancashire Police officer charged with misconduct in public office

A Lancashire Police officer has been charged with three counts of misconduct in public office following an Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) investigation.

The charges against Detective Constable Jatinder Bunger, aged 38, are in connection with allegations he sought relationships with two vulnerable women he met during the course of his duties and took or otherwise obtained photographs of four other women without their permission.

Our investigation began in March 2018 and at the conclusion of our enquiries in September 2019 we submitted a file of evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service which made the decision to charge DC Bunger.

The officer is due to appear at Manchester Magistrates’ Court today (20 October).
