North East based training provider, Learning Curve Group (LCG), is proud to announce a new addition to its suite of market-leading qualifications: NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Behaviour that Challenges (QRN:603/1062/5).

LCG is the only training provider to offer this qualification, which will benefit individuals across several sectors, especially those within education and health and social care.

Challenging behaviour is causing increasing concern today as many individuals have increasing levels of stress and uncertainty in their lives. This behaviour can be due to factors such as anxiety, neglect, abuse, learning disabilities and conditions like dementia.

Understanding the causes of challenging behaviour is the first step towards finding ways to support individuals and manage their behaviour. Lack of knowledge can be a major barrier to managing behaviour, which means that the right training is essential for anyone dealing with challenging behaviour so they can respond effectively to the triggers, signs and symptoms.

The key objectives of this qualification are to enable learners to understand:

  • behaviour that challenges
  • how to support positive behavior
  • the importance of effective communication and the management of behaviour that challenges
  • the role of reflection and support for those involved in incidents of behaviour that challenges.

The qualification consists of four mandatory units and allows learners to increase their awareness and understanding of behaviour that challenges and its effects.

Tracy Jackson, Manager at Aston House Care Home, said: “Behaviour that Challenges will benefit our staff at the care home. As the nature of the home is mental health, we experience different behaviours throughout the working week. Undertaking this course may help staff get a better understanding of how we overcome these episodes and keep ourselves safe, as it can become very challenging when our clients are unwell.”

Nikki Burrows, Client Services Director at LCG, said: “Over the last 12 months, we have received a large number of enquiries from individuals looking to gain further knowledge and understanding around the subject of challenging behaviour, resulting in our Learner Find Team capturing interest from over 2,300 individuals within a short period of time. We have taken bookings from 1,553 people in our first launch week and 2,525 learners in the space of 3 weeks, since this product went live. It’s been remarkable. It was clear that there was huge demand for a qualification on this subject nationally, supporting patients, carers and family members to deal with loved ones’ behaviour and enabling them to understand how to cope with redirection of behaviours. This is a great opportunity to further their personal learning and development through this short course, which supports continuous CPD.”

This qualification can be available at no cost through government funding, subject to eligibility. For further information, please contact LCG’s Career Enhancement Team on 01429 862 888, email training@learningcurvegroup.co.uk or visit www.learningcurvegroup.co.uk.
