MPS officer charged with grievous bodily harm

A serving Metropolitan Police Service officer was yesterday, 16 March, charged with grievous bodily harm, after a man sustained a serious injury during a search at an east London address.

Following an IPCC investigation into the use of force during the incident, the Crown Prosecution Service decided to charge PC Adrian Daly with inflicting grievous bodily harm, contrary to section 20 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1860.

The officer is due to appear at City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 11 April 2017 for an initial hearing in relation to an allegationhe assaulted the man during the search in Rayleigh Road, West Silvertown, on 29 September 2015, causing him to sustain a collapsed lung.

The IPCC concluded its investigation in September 2016, and referred a full file of evidence to the CPS.
