Metropolitan Police Officer charged with common assault

A Metropolitan Police Service officer will appear at City of Westminster Magistrates Court on Thursday 29 August 2019 charged with common assault.

PC Connor Pennery, 27, has been charged following an IOPC independent investigation into an allegation an officer may have used excessive force when detaining a man on Jermyn Street.

The detention took place at approximately 3.20pm on Saturday 16 February 2019 when PC Pennery was on duty for a ‘yellow vest’ protest taking place that day.
