Metropolitan Police Service officer charged with misconduct in public office

Following an Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) investigation, a Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) officer will appear at court charged with two counts of misconduct in public office in relation to allegations of inappropriate contact he had with two teenagers he met through the course of his duties.

Police Constable Adnan Arib, based at the Central East Command Unit, will make a first appearance before Westminster Magistrates Court on Friday, 16 July.

The IOPC conducted a criminal investigation following a referral from the MPS in July 2019. We concluded our investigation in September 2020 when we referred a file of evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS). The officer was notified of the CPS’ decision and charged on Friday, 18 June 2021.
