New NHSX Chief Exec joined by 100+ healthtech innovators at techUK

#healthtechUK event kicks off London Tech Week.

NHSX Chief Executive Matthew Gould and Chief Digital Officer Tara Donnelly were joined by Matt Hancock’s Chief Tech Advisor Hadley Beeman at techUK on Monday morning, as our #healthtechUK event kicked off an impressive London tech week.

Hadley Beeman opened the event to a capacity crowd, outlining the Government’s Vision for the future of healthcare.

Tara Donnelly, Chief Digital Officer at NHSX then chaired a panel including tech innovators from JAC, Birdie Care, Accenture and Dovetail.

Breakout sessions at the event explored the opportunities and barriers to making the UK the destination of choice for healthtech innovators and the policy solutions that are available to solve them, helping to inform NHSX’s early priorities and the work of techUK as the trade body for the sector. Companies split into groups focusing on: 1. Data interoperability, privacy and security 2. Procurement and frameworks 3. The business environment.

The event concluded with a ‘fireside chat’ with NHSX CEO Matthew Gould. Mr Gould outlined his mission to give patients and staff the technology that they need, stating that his key priority was creating a platform that allows innovation to flourish. The newly-appointed CEO said that he would judge the success of his mission on how well NHSX manages to reduce the burden on clinicians; put services directly in the hands of patients and ensuring that data can be safely accessed.
