Nottinghamshire Police officer faces dangerous driving charge

A Nottinghamshire Police officer will appear in court next week to face a charge of dangerous driving. It follows completion of our investigation into an incident in Nottingham.

PC Neil Copland, aged 48, has been summoned to appear at Leicester Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 27 March.

He is accused of dangerous driving during an incident in Derby Road on 4 December 2016.

Our investigation examined the circumstances of a collision involving an unmarked police car and a man who was on foot. We referred a file to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) which authorised the charge after reviewing the evidence.
