Nottinghamshire police officer in court charged with assault

A Nottinghamshire Police constable is due to appear in court today (Friday 22 February) charged with assault by beating.

The charge against Pc Matthew Thompson was authorised by the Crown Prosecution Service following our investigation which looked at the officer’s use of force against a man who was detained during an incident in Caxton Road, Nottingham, on 13 July last year (2018).

Pc Thompson’s first appearance will be before Leicester Magistrates Court.
