OE: Brexit & Belfast (Good Friday) Agreement: Finding a way through the backstop impasse

In a new report, Open Europe explores how the backstop has led to the current Brexit stalemate and identifies key areas where a compromise can be found. 

By proposing new arrangements for the economic governance of Northern Ireland – on a potentially permanent basis – the Withdrawal Agreement did not meet the same tests for democratic consent and cross-community support as the Belfast Agreement itself.
