On premise licenses: cost workshop

As you know LGA and Socitm have been working with the Crown Representative and Crown Commercial Service (CCS) and Microsoft to understand the requirements of local government in relation to the removal of discounts for Microsoft on premise licenses, which has resulted in some councils seeing significant price increases.

Max Odone from CCS may have been in touch with some of you to discuss your individual circumstances in order that we can put forward a proposal to Microsoft that will help councils with the cost increases they are seeing.

As part of the communications and to present an update in terms of the work we’ve been doing, we thought it would be helpful to get the interested councils together in order that we can:

  • Provide details about the latest on the project
  • Share experiences across the local government sector and
  • Showcase how others may have found ways of reducing costs through maximum exploitation of the technology that they have purchased.

We will be in touch shortly with a meeting ‘invitation’ to this workshop which will be held at the LGA offices in Smith Square, Westminster.  We have a limited amount of space so please do confirm your attendance as soon as possible.  We’ll have to limit this to one per council given limited space but we will run a reserve list in case space becomes available later.

We look forward to seeing you on 29th October.
