Ordnance Survey Customer Statement – COVID-19

In these very challenging times, our thoughts are with every one of you who are affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and the challenging circumstances it is creating.

At Ordnance Survey, we have deployed our business continuity plans to ensure that our critical national geospatial and mapping services remain available to all our customers. We want to let you know what actions we are taking to maintain support for you and your organisation in these unsettling times.

What this means for you today

We can confirm there are no known impacts to our internal or customer-facing systems, so please continue to access our data and services as normal.

Our priority is to maintain the continuity of our data capture, data maintenance and data provision services. Our data and technology systems continue to operate as normal and customer access to our digital services, including consumer apps, remain resilient. We aim to continue to fulfil all customer orders and our customer contact centre remains fully operational and available to take calls and respond to online enquiries.

In keeping with government advice, we are minimising all face to face meetings to protect you and our employees. Video conference calls and other non-direct forms of communication are in use to avoid non-essential contact. 

What this means for us

Like many organisations, where possible we have asked our employees to work remotely from home to help mitigate the further spread of the virus. Specific working arrangements are being put in place for those at our head office who are unable to work from home.

Providing support and solutions

We recognise that our customers will be working differently and will also be responding to changing demands and a range of different challenges. Our account managers and customer facing teams are here to help. Our focus is to do all we can to support our customers throughout and beyond this public health crisis.

We can see that there is a significant need for 'location' and geospatial data at this challenging time. You may not know that we offer a Mapping for Emergencies service 24 hours a day, every day of the year. This critical service ensures the provision of rapid geospatial data and mapping support in times of national or local emergency. We know circumstances are developing every day and we have increased capacity at this time to support the service. Over the coming weeks and months Ordnance Survey, like every other organisation, will continue to adapt the way we work. In the last 229 years, we have built a reputation on being able to rise to a challenge whilst continuing to provide the services that many customers and individuals rely on. We will be doing everything we can to meet the challenge this time.
