New suppliers will be able to join the framework in June 2018.

The Cabinet Office yesterday announced that a new iteration G-Cloud will be delivered in June 2018. G-Cloud 10 will enable new suppliers to be added to the framework, allow existing suppliers to add new services and for prices to be changed.

In the recently published Procuring the Smarter State report techUK outlined how procurement can act as a tool for Government to deliver its ambitious vision for the future of public services and help foster innovation in the supplier community. To achieve this, techUK recommended that frameworks on the Digital Marketplace such as G- Cloud should be expanded by increasing the spend going through frameworks and expanding the number of non-Whitehall parts of the public sector using the system - with a focus on local authorities and government agencies.

Encouraging new suppliers and new services through the Digital Marketplace will be key to achieving the transformation outlined in the Government Transformation Strategy, and to deliver smarter services. As highlighted at a recent techUK directors briefing with the Crown Commercial Service, feedback from GovTech suppliers was broadly positive about the engagement on the Digital Marketplace frameworks. However a number of suppliers highlighted concern regarding the proposed extension of G- Cloud 9 for up to 12 months, and the negative impact this will have on new suppliers wanting to provide to the public sector. This issue has now been addressed through the re-let of the G-Cloud framework.

Commenting on the G- Cloud 10 announcement, Rob Driver Head of Public Sector at techUK said:

It also demonstrates that the Cabinet Office has listened to and acted on the concerns of the UK GovTech market regarding the extension of G- Cloud 9.”
