‘The future of public services’: an online roundtable hosted by the House of Lords Public Services Committee

Background

The panel will be chaired by Nick Davies, Programme Director, Institute for Government. An impressive range of panellists join us from Policy Exchange, the IPPR, the Local Government Association and the National Council for Voluntary Organisations to reflect on the future of public services following COVID-19.

Areas of discussion

The panellists will discuss:

  • Did an over-centralised British state inhibit the COVID-19 response?
  • How can we empower communities to have greater control over local services?
  • Do we need to rethink the role of the voluntary sector and civil society?
  • What do the developments in digital technology mean for the future of public services?

The panel discussion will be followed by a Q&A, where attendees will have the opportunity to quiz the expert panel.
