Response to the Care Quality Commission’s State of Care 2018 report

State of Care is our annual assessment of health and social care in England. The report looks at the trends, highlights examples of good and outstanding care, and identifies factors that maintain high-quality care.

Rob Behrens, Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman yesterday responded to the publication of the Care Quality Commission’s State of CareOpens in a new window report:

'Those who work in health and social care do a tremendous job despite difficult challenges. However, the concerns raised today in the Care Quality Commission’s State of Care report reflect those we frequently see in the complaints people bring to us. This is particularly true of service failings that arise from poor communication and coordination between care providers.'

'It is essential that the health sector and government work together to address the bigger picture and ensure that consistent and high-quality care is available to everyone.'
