Rob Shaw CBE announces his departure from NHS Digital
Rob Shaw, deputy CEO at NHS Digital has announced that he will be leaving the organisation at Christmas, to pursue a consulting career. Initially he will be working with foreign governments on national health and care infrastructure.
In his time at NHS Digital Rob has led a range of major projects, including moving the Spine in house, which remains the biggest in-sourcing project that the NHS has ever completed. It has saved the taxpayer £100m since it transferred.
He has also successfully established the organisation’s cyber security function, with responsibility for maintaining the security of NHS Digital’s infrastructure and for supporting the rest of the NHS to make good decisions about their own data security.
Rob recently said:
“Whilst I will miss the organisation and my talented colleagues enormously, the time is right to pursue some new challenges and to test my skills in some new environments.”
Sarah Wilkinson, CEO at NHS Digital recently said:
“Rob has been hugely important to the functioning of this organisation for many years. He has worked throughout NHS Digital in many roles and guises and his contribution has been simply phenomenal.
“On a personal note, I could not have asked for a more supportive, wise, thoughtful, generous and loyal deputy. It has been a huge privilege to have his support over the last couple of years and I will miss him enormously.”
