Sellafield in the spotlight

The UK has had a unique opportunity to look at the nationally important decommissioning work underway at Sellafield, the people who work at the site and what they do to keep the site safe and secure.

Two national BBC TV programmes, with an audience of more than two million, were given unrivalled access to parts of Sellafield site and the Civil Nuclear Constabulary’s (CNC) training facility in West Cumbria.

In the third and final episode of ‘The Lakes with Simon Reeve’, Simon explored the coast of Cumbria and visited Sellafield to meet some of the people involved delivering the most important and challenging nuclear decommissioning projects.

Frank Gardner, the BBC’s renowned security correspondent, also visited other parts of Sellafield site and the CNC facility to focus on how Britain protects its nuclear material
