Sex offender travelled to Spain to film children on beach

A sex offender who secretly filmed naked children on a beach and had a hoard of 140,000 images of child abuse has been jailed for four years after an NCA investigation.

Gary Davison, 56, admitted three counts of making indecent images of children and one of taking indecent images of children.

He used a covert video recorder to film naked boys aged between five and nine on a beach in Majorca, Spain, during holidays over several years.

On 25 March 2016 National Crime Agency officers raided Davison’s home in Hunt Lea Avenue, Lincoln, and arrested him. During interview he admitteddownloading indecent images of children for 15 years.

NCA investigators discovered Davison had 140,000 indecent images of children on his devices, which he referred to as “the collection”.

In 1988 Davison was convicted of indecent assault on a male under 16, indecent assault on a male under 14 and buggery.

In 1991 he was convicted of indecent assault on a male under 16 and taking indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children.

Those convictions pre-dated introduction of the sex offenders’ register so Davison was not subject to active management by law enforcement.

In addition to the prison sentence, Davison was given a sexual harm prevention order and put on the sex offenders’ register for life when he appeared at Lincoln Crown Court last Thursday.

Senior investigating officer Martin Ludlow said: “Davison is a lifetime sex offender.

“These convictions substantially reduce the risk he poses to children and means he will be managed upon his release.”
