TUC: Apprenticeships take centre stage at the unionlearn Annual Conference

Hundreds of trade union learning reps will gather with employers, learning providers, and government representatives for the 2017 unionlearn conference on Monday (3 July).

This year’s conference will focus on delivering high quality apprenticeships, along with skills development and meeting the needs of a modern workforce.

TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady will open the conference.

Ann Cleeves, author of the Shetland and Vera murder mysteries, will speak about her support for Quick Reads and what inspires her to write.

There will also be performances by teacher-turned-poet Jess Green and geek comedian Helen Arney.

Throughout the afternoon, delegates will discuss topics including English language learning, TUC education, apprenticeships, older workers, maths, poetry, creative writing and mental health.

Kevin Rowan, unionlearn Director, said:

“The unionlearn Annual Conference is the ideal time for learning reps to update their skills, find out about the latest campaigns, and share ideas with colleagues from across the country.”

“Apprenticeships are union business. This year’s conference will focus on giving reps the tools they need to support a generation of new workers develop their skills.”

Places for the conference can be booked on: www.unionlearn.org.uk/events
