The National Cyber Security Centre celebrates its first anniversary of operations this week.

Our Annual Review shines a light on the work it has done to make the UK the safest place to live and work online.

The NCSC, a part of GCHQ, has much work still to be done but in its first 12 months the organisation has prevented thousands of attacks, provided support for the UK Armed Forces and has managed the UK's response to hundreds of incidents.

Ciaran Martin, CEO of the NCSC, said:

“The UK faces threats from across the globe on a daily basis and while we have brought together unprecedented expertise to defend the UK, it’s not a question of ‘if’ cyber attacks will happen, it’s a matter of when.

“The NCSC’s first duty is to manage and mitigate against attacks. Our anniversary report shows the progress we have made working with government, industry and individuals to create a truly lasting national asset.

“We are proud of what we have achieved in our first 12 months, but there is so much more to do in the years ahead to counter this threat to our values, prosperity and way of life."

Hidden inside the review is a code waiting to be cracked - can you find it and solve it? Don't forget you can get involved in the conversation around our NCSC's 2017 Annual Review on Twitter using #OneYearOn
