The Queen Visits MI5

MI5 was honoured to receive a visit from Her Majesty The Queen recently (25 February 2020), during which The Queen praised the "tireless work" and "remarkable resolve" shown by our officers in adapting to the changing nature of the threats we investigate, and keeping the country safe.

In her address to staff, Her Majesty said: "Because of the nature of your work, it is without public recognition, so it is on behalf of the country that I say to you all, thank you".

Director General Sir Andrew Parker thanked The Queen for her support for the work of MI5 and said that her "powerful sense of duty and public service to the nation" is an inspiration for all of our staff.

During her visit to Thames House, The Queen visited the secret MI5 museum and received briefings from MI5 staff on current investigations and operations.

MI5 has enjoyed a long and close relationship with the Royal Family. HRH The Prince of Wales has been patron of the UK intelligence services since 2011, and HRH The Duke of Cambridge spent a week working alongside intelligence officers last year to gain a greater understanding of our work.
