The North East is arguably one of the most exciting places in the UK to be involved in the tech industry. A bold statement, but one that can be backed up by the sheer volume of interesting and innovative businesses that we have here in the region. 

According to stats from Tech Nation, 2017 was an impressive year for the digital tech scene in the North East. The report, released earlier this year, revealed the following insights into the region for the year:

• £995m digital tech business turnover
• 148 digital tech businesses were born
• £1.3bn GVA was generated

The report illustrated that the North East is indeed providing a much-needed growing hub for the tech industry – you no longer need to pack up and move to London to pursue a career in digital.

Support networks such as Dynamo and Digital Union, spaces such as PROTO and TusPark and groups such as the North East arm for Tech Nation and Newcastle Tech Trust are supporting and empowering individuals in the digital technology sector more than ever before.
