Training exercise affirms military strength in Afghanistan
The Afghan National Army (ANA) in Kabul has taken part in a huge training exercise carried out across miles of desert.
This show of force, carried out solely by the Afghan military, was a demonstration of the ANA’s military capability and high-level planning.
The timing of the exercise is important as it follows on from the first round of presidential elections in Afghanistan.
