Two New RUSI Projects Receive Funding by CREST Research

RUSI’s Terrorism and Conflict Research Group is pleased to announce that it is working on two newly commissioned projects, funded by the Centre for Research and Evidence on Security Threats (CREST).

The Terrorism and Conflict team is excited to work in partnership with two excellent universities to contribute to the mission of CREST. The Centre was commissioned by the Economic and Social Research Council, part of UK Research and Innovation, and is funded by the UK’s Home Office and security and intelligence agencies to deliver a world-class, interdisciplinary portfolio of activities.

One of the projects, in partnership with Professor David McIlhatton and his team at Coventry University, will focus on Evaluating Security Interventions in Public Locations: Developing and Testing a Co-created Framework for Protective Security.

The other project, in partnership with Dr Alexandra Phelan and her team at Monash University in Australia, will focus on Misogyny, Hostile Beliefs, and the Transmission of Extremism: A Comparison of the Far Right in the UK and Australia. Our team looks forward to collaborating on these two projects over the next year.

We are excited to expand our Countering Terrorism and Violent Extremism portfolio to better support effective design and evaluation of Protect and Prevent policy in the UK and abroad.
