UK Cyber Security Council Formation Project

The UK Cyber Security Council Formation Project is looking to widen engagement with industry.

The Government launched a consultation on 19 July 2018 outlining proposals to develop the cyber security profession in the UK. This included a proposal to create a new, independent UK Cyber Security Council.

In September 2019, The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) commissioned the establishment of the UK Cyber Security Council through a consortium of cyber security professional bodies to be finalised by the end of March 2021.

This Alliance of professional cyber security organisations will bring together credibility and knowledge across a wide range of disciplines to further strengthen the UK’s leadership position in cyber security innovation and resilience on the global stage. We're committed to working with the Government and the National Cyber Security Centre on delivering the rapid, yet capable development of specialist cyber skills to meet the growing needs of the industry, manage risk and secure the next generation of talent.

The UK Cyber Security Council will aim to coordinate the existing professional landscape to make cyber security a well-structured and easy-to-navigate profession which represents, supports and drives excellence going forward.

Engagement opportunities

As part of this work, the project secretariat is seeking organisations represented by senior, experienced individuals for the following roles.

Note – all roles are volunteer-based and are not remunerated, but the post-holder is able to claim reasonable out-of-pocket expenses.
