UK Tech Companies Win Big At Global ICT Excellence Awards
techUK member Electron and UK NGO Internet Watch Foundation win at WCIT global awards.
At the World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT), techUK member Electron was one of five winners of the 2017 Emerging Digital Solutions award, whilst UK NGO Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) won the 2017 Public Sector Award.
On the final day of the WCIT2017, the World Information Technology and services Alliance (WITSA) announced that seven private and public sector organisations from five different countries were selected to receive the 2017 WITSA Global ICT Excellence Awards.
The Public Sector award was accepted by techUK’s CEO, Julian David, on behalf of the IWF, at the Gala Awards Ceremony in Taiwan on Tuesday 12 September. Julian commented:
“We’re delighted to see the WCIT recognise the IWF’s achievements to date, as well as its ongoing commitment to protect citizens around the globe. techUK works closely with the foundation to achieve our common goal of ensuring that children, adults and businesses alike are able to enjoy the benefits of the online world in a safe and secure way.”

They help victims of child sexual abuse worldwide by identifying and removing online images and videos of their abuse. And they offer a place for the public to report these images anonymously.
They also work with the internet industry across the world to help them protect their customers, staff and services.
