UK and Gibraltar discussions with Spain regarding UK-EU future relationship

The United Kingdom, Gibraltar and Spain recently (09 June 2020) held constructive discussions regarding the issues relating to Gibraltar relevant to the UK-EU future relationship negotiations.

The UK delegation comprised officials from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and HM Ambassador to Madrid. The Chief Minister, Hon Fabian Picardo QC MP, led for Gibraltar. The Spanish delegation comprised officials from the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other ministries.

The UK provided an update on the UK-EU future relationship negotiations. The meeting considered those issues that will form the basis of future discussions, with agreement to meeting again in the coming weeks.

The parties noted their intention to work constructively and positively, and agreed that the priority is the continued well-being and prosperity of people in the region.
