Universal Credit: update for landlords

The Department for Work and Pensions has published a newsletter for landlords who have tenants in receipt of Universal Credit.

The newsletter includes the latest information on the managed migration pilot scheme in Harrogate as well as the latest statistics on Local Housing Allowance and Universal Credit.

It also includes a new video for private landlords on how they can best support tenants in receipt of Universal Credit, which you can watch below.

RLA campaigning on welfare reform

The RLA continues to engage with the Department for Work and Pensions on the topic of welfare reform.

Last week, RLA policy officer Tim Thomas attended the DWP private rented sector strategic landlord forum, and in March the RLA will attend an important meeting in March on the evaluation and monitoring of Universal Credit, including the pilot project in Harrogate.

You can keep up to date with our work in our weekly members only campaigns review, and in our welfare reform news section.

Training for landlords

The RLA runs specialist courses on Universal Credit for landlords, with dates coming up in the next few months in London and Manchester. Delivered by Universal Credit and Local Housing Allowance expert Bill Irvine, this course is the perfect way to hear the very latest on Universal Credit and ask any questions you may have.
