Update on cyber attack
An STFC Service Provider has been the victim of a cyber-attack by unknown perpetrators resulting in a data-breach.
The hackers extracted personal information from records related to a personnel dosimetry monitoring service. The service is provided by an approved dosimetry supplier.
STFC has today written to all individuals affected by the breach to advise them of the cyber-attack, to apologise for the release of their data, and to provide information on the actions we have taken in response. The attack has affected 1,300 individuals and the Information Commissioner’s Office has been informed.
We are also advising those affected to be extra vigilant for phishing attacks that may utilise the data found within the database to attempt to extract further personal information from them.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused to those involved.
