Vacancy: Assistant Director

The National Infrastructure Commission is looking for a new Assistant Director.

Assistant Directors sit at the heart of the Commission.  They are responsible for leading projects and staff to deliver against the Commission’s broad and challenging remit.  The successful candidate will work closely with Commissioners and senior management to scope and deliver the essential components of the organisation’s work plan.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Leading multiple policy projects across the Commission’s remit, identifying recommendations and preparing reports which are robust and compelling enough to have a direct impact on Government policy;
  • Line managing a multi-disciplinary team of around five people, which may include policy-makers, specialists and secondees;
  • Playing an active role in the leadership team at the Commission, providing input and challenge across all of the Commission’s work programme and contributing to making the organisation a great place to work; and
  • Representing the Commission externally with senior stakeholders, at meetings and events

A background in an area or sector directly related to the Commission’s remit would be useful but is not essential
