Witness appeal following serious injury collision in Birmingham

The Independent Office for Police Conduct is appealing for witnesses following a collision in Birmingham involving a police car and a man who was seriously injured.

The  man, who is in his 30s, was on foot at the junction of Hamstead Road and Holly Road, Handsworth, at 12.10am on Thursday morning, 31 August when he was in collision with single-crewed, marked police car responding to an emergency call. He was taken to hospital with several fractures.

We began an independent investigation after a mandatory referral from West Midlands Police and would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the man involved before the collision or witnessed any part of it.
