Work to improve London Overground’s West Hampstead station is complete

Customers were welcomed to a new improved West Hampstead station yesterday, as Transport for London (TfL) completed major improvement work. The enhanced station includes a new entrance, wider platforms and step-free access from street to platform.

The work at West Hampstead was delivered in stages to minimise the impact on customers, with platform widening the final stage helping to provide more space to reduce crowding.

Other improvements delivered include a new station building with a bright and airy entrance along with a new gateline providing double the number of ticket gates allowing quicker access for customers.

A new concourse links to a more centrally located footbridge that provides easier access to the whole length of the platform, making it quicker and easier for customers to board and disembark.

Both platforms are now served by the two new lifts helping ensure the station is accessible to all customers, including disabled or older customers, parents or carers with buggies and people with heavy luggage.

Rory O'Neill, TfL's General Manager for London Overground, said: "The station improvements at West Hampstead, including step-free access, will make travelling through the new station an even better experience for everyone
