Working together to tackle multiple needs

People facing multiple disadvantage have been pushed to the extreme margins of UK society.
The links between problems like homelessness, substance misuse, mental ill health, violence, contact with the criminal justice system, domestic abuse and extreme poverty often go unrecognised by services and systems mostly designed to deal with one issue at a time.
Two years ago, the first National Summit brought together a vibrant network of people with lived experience, service providers, commissioners and policy makers, each with different skills and expertise and all committed to achieving change.
On the 8th and 9th May 2017, we will gather again in Milton Keynes, this time also inviting researchers to join the mix. Working together, we will assess progress, inspire and challenge each other, and discuss the next steps in tackling multiple disadvantage.
The programme
Over two days, 30+ workshops will be led and shaped by delegates, alongside four key plenary sessions. On the final afternoon, we will explore what this means for how we move forward together. The event programme is now available to view online and there will be plenty of choice for all attendees. Key themes include:
- Drawing expertise from lived experience
- Achieving systems change
- Understanding and responding to diversity
- Fostering partnership and collaborations to achieve change
