World Environment Day

techUK marks World Environment Day with a series of blogs and insights.

World Environment Day is celebrated every year on 5 June and is the United Nations’ principle vehicle for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of the planet.

Sadly, the need for it has never been greater. Within the next 10 years, one out of every four known species may have been wiped off the planet.

Recent events, the Australia’s bushfires, locust infestations across East Africa and the emergence of COVID-19 has underscored the fact that when we destroy biodiversity, we destroy the systems that support us.

The tech sector has a hugely important role to play. As well as moving to net zero and actively reducing the environmental footprint of our sector, we can deploy tech that can provide unique insights and tools for ecologists, civil society, regulators and people.

Today we feature a small number of blogs from members and stakeholders exploring how the sector is doing just that and how we can work together to go further, faster.
