APM welcomes new Board trustees

Association for Project Management (APM) has announced that its Board of trustees will be joined by two new and one returning member following this year’s board elections.

The Board will be joined by Sue Simmonite, who is a highly experienced planning, project control and project management leader working with BAE Systems where she is the global project management and control director and chair of the company’s Corporate Project Management Council. She is a long-standing APM member and an active volunteer with the APM Planning, Monitoring and Control Specific Interest Group (SIG), as well as APM’s Corporate Advisory Group.

Also joining the board is Emma Carroll-Walsh, who has over 25 years’ experience working in a variety of engineering project management roles across the energy, aerospace, marine and Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sectors. She is the chair of the APM Awards Steering Group and was previously chair of the APM Midlands Branch.

Emma and Sue are joined by Sorrel Gilbert who returns for her second term as a trustee. Sorrel joined the board in 2018 and has been a passionate champion of diversity in the profession. She runs Sorrel Project Solutions, delivering a variety of project management and control services including teaching, podcasting, coaching and mentoring.

Stuart Forsyth, who has been a member of the Board of trustees since 2019, chose not to stand again as his two-year term came to an end.

The results were announced at APM’s annual general meeting in London on Monday, 15 November.

Mike Robinson, APM’s company secretary, said:

“The annual elections showed the health and strength of the profession with 14 high quality candidates standing for election, and a good level of voter turnout from among our eligible members.

“We are looking forward to working with our new trustees. In addition, everyone at APM would like to thank Stuart Forsyth for his invaluable contribution over the last two years.”

The APM Board of Trustees is responsible for the strategic direction of the organisation, playing an essential role in keeping APM responsive, relevant and sustainable in a constantly changing world. Sue, Emma and Sorrel join the board of trustees at an exciting time for APM as it heads into its 50th year and develops a refreshed corporate strategy.
