techUK comments on the Prime Minister's London Tech Week announcement

techUK comments on the Prime Minister’s announcement kicking off London Tech Week, which includes over a billion pounds of investment and a new Competitiveness Study.

Commenting on the Prime Minister’s announcement kicking off London Tech Week, which includes over a billion pounds of investment and a new Competitiveness Study, Julian David, CEO of techUK, yesterday said:

“Today’s announcements are a vote of confidence in the UK by great companies that are helping shape the future. I am particularly pleased to see techUK members VMWare, Mastek and OneWeb boosting their UK investment plans.

“The Prime Minister today has rightly chosen to use London Tech Week to target support for next generation technologies. Investment in Quantum Computing and supporting people to begin careers in AI and data shows the kind of forward looking focus that can and should underpin the UK’s digital strategy.

“techUK also welcomes the Prime Minister’s announcement of a new Competitiveness Study. While the UK remains a great place to start and grow a tech business, we cannot rest on our laurels. Just as tech companies must continue to be innovative and imaginative to keep in front of the competition, the Government must also make sure the UK’s support for tech firms evolves and keeps pace with other countries vying to be a home for the next tech success stories.”
