techUK publishes a new Human Rights Policy guide

A new guide has been developed by techUK to help companies new to human rights consider, develop and embed a Human Rights Policy into their organisation.

A Human Rights Policy is a company’s expression of its commitment to meet its responsibility to meet internationally recognised human right standards.

It shows that a company understands its responsibilities, initiates processes that alert companies to new areas of risks, fosters in-house capabilities and helps to build trust and dialogue with external stakeholders. Frequently, it may also be required in tenders.

The plain language guide covers the key elements that companies need to consider when develop their own Human Rights Policy for the first time:

  • The business case for developing a Human Rights Policy.
  • How to draft your own Human Rights Policy using examples to highlight best practice.
  • How to embed a Human Rights Policy into your organisation.
  • How to manage compliance with the Policy once it is in place.
  • Key sources of support and further information.

If you have any feedback on the guide, please do let us know.
