The No-Deal Readiness Report details the business conditions UK companies will face in the event of a no deal exit and highlights guidance provided by Government.

The UK Government has released a 'No-Deal Readiness Report' which details the business conditions UK companies will face in the event of a no deal exit and highlights where support and gudiance have been provided by the UK Government.

The report was released ahead of a planned statement by the Chancellor of the Dutchy of Lancaster the Rt Hon. Micheal Gove MP in the House of Commons on 8 October 2019.

The full No Deal Readiness Report can be read here.

In response to the report, techUK CEO Julian David yesterday said:

“techUK welcomes the release of the Government’s No-Deal Readiness Report which condenses the existing advice offered by the Government into a single document."

“However, there remain significant outstanding issues which need clarity. These include regulatory and visa requirements for selling services in the EU27 after Brexit, outstanding issues on the mutual recognition of professional qualifications and increasing awareness of the impacts that the end of the free flow of personal data will have on UK/EU data exchanges within the EU27."

“techUK welcomes commitments given in the report to seek clarity on these issues. However, businesses must be able to make preparations well ahead of a potential October 31 exit date and we therefore urge the Government to continue to seek clarity and communicate with businesses in a timely manner, in particular, with SMEs"

“Many of the outstanding issues presented in this report could be addressed in a transition period if the Government is able to agree a deal.”

“In a recent survey of our membership, 71% of members said that a no deal would have a negative impact on their business. Over the next few weeks, techUK strongly encourages the Government to secure a deal with the EU that will ensure that the UK can maintain its position as one of the best places in the world to start and grow a tech business.”

techUK will be running a series of webcasts to help UK technology companies prepare for no deal. These webcasts will cover five key areas identified by techUK that a no deal Brexit will have on the UK tech sector. These are, Data Flows, Freedom of Movement and the immigration system post-Brexit , Importing and exporting goods and services, The mobility of workers between the UK and EEA and meeting EU Regulations.

The Schedule of these webcasts and registration information can be found here.
