5 new members have been appointed to Sport Wales’ board by the Welsh Government.

Sport Wales is the national organisation responsible for developing and promoting sport and physical activity in Wales.

They are the main adviser on sporting matters to the Welsh Government and are responsible for distributing National Lottery funds to both elite and grassroots sport in Wales.

Candidates were sought who:

Lord Elis-Thomas, Deputy Minister for Culture, Sport and Tourism said:

Organisations are at their best when there is a diversity of culture, thinking and perspective. I’m very pleased to see such a diverse field, all of whom have a wealth of experience. Diversity and inclusion on boards is so important to the business agenda.

Chair of Sport Wales, Lawrence Conway, said:

I’m delighted that the minister has appointed 5 new board members to join the Sport Wales Board in September. They bring a wealth of experience with them from a range of sectors. Most importantly, they are all passionate about bringing that experience to the table as we work to embed our new strategy across the organisation.
