£900,000 funding boost for Northern Ireland groups from National Lottery Awards for All

People with disabilities, older people, and young people are among those benefiting from over £900,000 from The National Lottery Community Fund.

A total of 104 groups across Northern Ireland are sharing in £906,303 from The National Lottery Awards for All programme.

Indian Senior Citizens Club, based in Belfast, supports older Indian people. They are using the £10,000 grant to run activities including yoga, bowling, arts and crafts, cookery classes, and holistic health sessions. They are also using the grant for transport and entrance fees for outings.

Men’s Action Network supports men in Derry/Londonderry. They are using a £10,000 grant to run suicide prevention workshops and activities around mental health awareness, healthy eating, sports, communication skills, self-esteem and anti-bullying in local schools.

Orchard Social Club for Visually Impaired People, based in Armagh, helps visually impaired people to meet and build their confidence. They’re using a £4,000 grant to run day trips away and social events, including a day at the seaside, a Christmas dinner, visits to the theatre, and a mystery tour.

Also receiving funding is Gran Quilters. The group, based in Swatragh, is using a grant of £9,320 run a trip to the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham to build relationships between members and encourage them to learn new skills.
