We are delighted to announce that Collaborate will be hosting an evening event next month with UCL Professor and author Mariana Mazzucato, exploring ideas about public value, the role of the state and ‘mission’-based innovation.

Mariana is Professor in the Economics of Innovation and Public Value at University College London (UCL), and is Founder and Director of the UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose (IIPP).

Her highly acclaimed book The Entrepreneurial State: debunking public vs. private sector myths was on the 2013 Books of the Year list of the Financial Times. Her new book The Value of Everything: making and taking in the global economy has been shortlisted for this year’s Financial Times and McKinsey Business Book of the Year prize. Mariana has agreed to talk on the subject:

Why should we work together to tackle complex social issues?

The event will be chaired by Lord Victor Adebowale. We will also hear from Sacha Romanovitch, CEO of Grant Thornton UK LLP, and Chris Naylor, Chief Executive of LB of Barking and Dagenham, who will respond to Mariana’s contribution and participate in the debate.

If you would like to join us at this evening event, which begins with a drinks reception at 18:30, please email shalagh@collaboratecic.com for further details.
