An introduction to the Tobacco and Vapes Act 2026
13 Jul 2026 12:04 PM
The Tobacco and Vapes Act received 'Royal Assent' 29 April 2026. Most of the Act is not yet in force (meaning businesses do not need to follow its requirements just yet), but it will be the law, so your business needs to be prepared. The first major changes are expected at the end of October.
This Act has been described as the "greatest piece of public health legislation for decades", and it will protect children from addiction and lifelong harms caused by smoking and vaping.
In June, CTSI ran a webinar to introduce businesses to the Act. It highlighted what changes will be coming in now and over the coming months and years, and also explained what will be subject to further consultation and regulations.
The course was funded by the Department of Health and Social Care and focused on the implications for England, while also highlighting the changes coming in for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
