Annual Plan 2018/19 published

We yesterday published our Annual Plan, setting out what we will do over the coming year to make the agency leaner, more efficient and deliver a step change in the way we work with our law enforcement and intelligence partners to fight serious and organised crime as one system.

In the Home Secretary’s foreword to the Annual Plan, Amber Rudd praised the Agency’s performance, saying we have “gone from strength to strength with an impressive, and sustained, track record of disruptions across the full range of serious and organised crime threats.”

The Director General echoed this in her statement, highlighting that the agency has delivered “some outstanding results since its inception . But we are not complacent. There is more to do to protect the public from the effects of serious and organised crime, which continues to grow in complexity and challenge”.

The Annual Plan, which follows the government’s National Security Capability Review, is ambitious in scope, detailing the concrete steps we will take this year towards transformation. In 2018/19 we will:

• Build critical capability through the creation of the National Assessment Centre, the National Data Exploitation Capability, and the National Economic Crime Centre.
• Continue to demonstrate our leadership role in tackling serious and organised crime by embedding a consistent approach to threat leadership, including prioritisation and tasking, to become threat agnostic and intelligence led in our investigations.
• Deliver specialist and unique services to support our own operations and those of our partners.
• Work with our partners to continually build an evidence base for sustainable funding.
• Implement the recommendations of our international review, ensuring that our activity to tackle serious and organised crime upstream is driven by agreed national priorities.
• Introduce a new streamlined structure that will also make us a more efficient, agile and flexible organisation. Savings will be reinvested to increase the number of frontline officers.

Our plans for the coming year are ambitious and we will be investing in our officers to deliver them. Our new pay and reward structures will make us more competitive as an employer, and enable us to grow our workforce at critical operational grades, while our diversity and inclusion strategy will help make our workforce more reflective of the communities we serve and protect.
