Become a GCS mentor and share your experience to help build a truly world class public service communications profession.

The GCS Mentoring scheme has successfully matched over 120 mentors and mentees in the last 12 months. Being a mentor is a mutually beneficial experience: both mentors and mentees tell us the experience has really helped them develop in their role.

Taking part in the GCS Mentoring Programme delivers a number of benefits to both mentees and mentors. These will vary from one partnership to another depending on what both parties hope to get out of the relationship, but the key benefits can include:

• Improve leadership and communication skills
• Reinforce skills and knowledge of specialism
• Build networks across Government
• Increase understanding of different roles and teams across government communications
• Exposure to new ideas and ways of thinking

To continue to make positive matches we need more mentors. We are looking for mentors from across the UK and are particularly seeking candidates from BAME backgrounds at SIO grade and above. Participation in GCS mentoring also counts toward annual GCS CPD requirements.
