The Big Lottery Fund is delighted to announce the appointment of Ben Harrison as its new Director of Engagement.
Ben joins the Fund in November from the Centre for Cities
, one of the UK’s leading independent urban economics think tanks, where he has held the position of Director of Communications and Development for four years.
He has previously worked for a range of charities and within the private sector, and brings with him significant experience in the economic development, housing and regeneration sectors.
Dawn Austwick, Big Lottery Fund Chief Executive, said: “I am delighted to welcome Ben to our team. He will play an integral role in helping us to highlight the difference our funding makes across the UK, sharing widely the stories and impact of the wonderful people and communities we are proud to support.”
Ben Harrison said: “I’m looking forward to playing my part in helping the Fund to support projects that deliver real and lasting change for communities, and hope that by celebrating and sharing the remarkable stories of those leading that change, we can inspire more people to make a difference for their local area too.”

Notes to Editors
- The Big Lottery Fund is the largest funder of community activity in the UK. We put people in the lead to improve their lives and communities, often through small, local projects.
- We are responsible for giving out 40% of the money raised by National Lottery players for good causes. Every year we invest over £650 million and award around 12,000 grants across the UK for health, education, environment and charitable purposes.
- Since June 2004 we have awarded over £9 billion to projects that change the lives of millions of people. Since the National Lottery began in 1994, £34 billion has been raised and more than 450,000 grants awarded.
