CESG in conjunction with the Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure are working jointly to transform the UK's cyber security standards and guidance. As a part of this they have produced draft guidance for private and public sector organisations considering a 'Bring Your Own Device' (BYOD) approach for staff who want to use their personal IT devices, such as laptops, tablets and smartphones.

As part of the wider National Cyber Security Programme, CESG and CPNI are working jointly to transform our cyber security standards and guidance.

We have previously produced separate guidance to help organisations use mobile devices securely; this mainly focused on corporately owned devices. The guidance you are currently reading helps organisations understand the risk of staff using their personal IT devices, such as laptops, tablets, smartphones, etc. This is more commonly known as ‘Bring Your Own Device’ (BYOD).
