Attracting & encouraging talent from all backgrounds builds inclusive workplaces

Neil Carberry, CBI Managing Director for People policy, said:

“The recommendations from Sir John Parker’s review provide practical targets and ways for companies to make progress now – something that the CBI fully supports.  Improving ethnic representation on boards is not just the right thing to do, evidence shows us that it also increases a firm’s performance by bringing people together with a variety of experiences and ideas to make better business choices.

“We already have experienced and talented BAME people working in our biggest businesses. FTSE firms must take immediate action to ensure these capable candidates are being selected to serve on their boards and in their senior leadership teams.  Not only this, businesses must increase their efforts to secure their future talent and help capable employees from all backgrounds progress through all levels.

“Attracting and encouraging talent from all backgrounds helps us to build inclusive and productive workplaces, in which everyone feels engaged and able to perform at their best.”
